Lansdale Historical Society

Lansdale’s rich tradition of print journalism was the subject of the Lansdale Historical Society’s Community Program on Tuesday, October 9.

The “Extra! Extra!” program traced the 146-year history of newspapers in the borough, from the German language Presse in 1861 to today’s Reporter, which has been a community staple since 1870.

Former Reporter editor Dick Shearer and chief photographer Willard Krieble, who had more than 75 years of combined service to the paper,  co-hosted the show, which included a video presentation by Steve Moyer, which was interjected with a number of humorous clips.

An article appeared in the October 10, 2007 edition of The Reporter.  Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to view the neat photo.
