One of the missions of the Lansdale Historical Society is to promote local history in our schools. With that in mind, we have initiated a visitation program to local elementary schools that features a look back at what life was life for children growing up in this area a century ago.
The program, Back in Time may be adjusted in length between 45 and 90 minutes depending upon the age of the students. Through an audio-visual presentation, the students will have an opportunity to use evidence, such as artifacts, photos, maps, and newspaper accounts to learn about the history of their community. The program is tailored to the borough or township in which the school is located.
The society offers this program free of charge to local schools, as well as scout and youth organizations. Groups of fewer than 25 members might wish to combine the program with a visit to the Jenkins Homestead.
