A day-long, community-wide celebration of Lansdale’s incorporation as a borough in 1872. Society-sponsored events and exhibits at the Jenkins Homestead and Borough Hall will be announced in June and July.

A trip back in time to explore the history and good times that were had at Towamencin’s Fischer’s Park, home of one of the area’s first swimming pools.

The first of a new annual series that focuses on the lifestyle and events of a single year during the 20th century. We will focus on the happenings here in the North Penn area and around the world in 1955 when the Fabulous Fifties were in high gear.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8: The Unsung Genius of Milton B. Bean
Working from his modest home on Lansdale’s Green Street, Milton Bean was one of he most imaginative and prolific architects in the Greater Philadelphia area. Now, more than a century later, many of the stately homes, churches, and commercial buildings he designed bear witness to his life’s work, which went largely unheralded at the time.

For more than a half century, John C. Bartholomew was Lansdale’s most prolific photographer, yet much of his work was lost over the years. Some of what remains has been made available to the Lansdale Historical Society.

Features the presentation of the 2012 Edwin G. Holl Historic Achievement Award to a local individual, organization, or business that has promoted the cause of preserving history in our region. Cocktails, 6 p.m.; dinner, 7 p.m. Tickets must be ordered in advance.
TUESDAY, MAY 8: The Gwynedds
The last in our series of programs focusing on the history of communities bordering Lansdale. This show includes both Upper and Lower Gwynedd townships, which were a single municipality until 1891.
Unless otherwise noted, all Community Programs are held at the Lansdale Parks and Recreation Building, Seventh St. and Lansdale Ave., beginning at 7:30 pm. There is no admission charge but donations are greatly appreciated. Postponements will be announced on WNPV Radio (1440).
